Spotcheck: Micropolis Skatepark July 2008
We could not visit Helsinki without going to the Micropolis Skatepark. Here is some information and some pictures from our visit to the park.
Information
Micropolis is made out of granite, concrete, grass, bushes and trees, and was made by Janne Saario. The main idea was to create a public skatepark that would feel as a natural streetspot, and at the same time offer an architectural experience for regular citizens.
In the park you will find banks, curbs, stairs, gaps and all sorts of skateable architecture. There is also a small concrete snakerun that ends up in a tiny little bowl. Check out the pictures below for more details.
Location
Micropolis Skatepark is located in the central park of Helsinki. Click here to see a map.
Micropolis Skatepark is situated next to Eläintarha track. You get there fastest with Trams 3 and 7. Get off at the Eläintarha stop.
